Our Local Tree Mural is coming to life!
I have been working on this mural for a couple of months now. I actually completed the painting in one weekend, but was trying to figure out a creative way to personalize in a special enough way to honor the talented and hard-working people of our community.
Our local arts and music scenes are pretty cool for a town this size, and our local farming community-both produce and meat-is booming, I am so proud to be from such a progressive rural area.
Our 2nd Saturday Live at Java Joe’s Coffee inside Get Healthy features local singers-songwriters with no cover charge from 11-1 on the second Saturday of each month. Hi-lighted artists on the local tree include Brittany Pfantz, Dylan & Neli, Amanda Ayao and Acoustic Velvet, David Locklear, Noah O’Bryan Barber, and Stacy Pratt.
Other branches of local interest include artists, Joey Governale of Goober’s Folk Art, Tim and DiAnne Kindler-local photographers and performance artists at Wooten Theater, Masterpiece Bayou painting classes by Lydia, RAD Real Art DeRidder Gallery, and our mural was painted by Terri Stovall of Get Healthy. We offer local artists to hang their art here for sale or display at no charge. We are in the designated Arts District, so there is never any tax on purchasing art from local artists!
We feature local Authors, Book Signings, LuLaRoe Pop-ups, and charity and church groups are welcome to reserve our seating area for meetings at no charge. Just give us advance notice so that we can be staffed adequately, and make sure that no one else is already using the space.
Our local farmers include Rabbit’s Ranch Beef, who offer grass fed beef, and pastured pork, and we sell local eggs, when available from our own chickens (Terri and Arick) or from the Cassell family with Greener Pastures in Singer. We are also working on being a drop-off point for a local CSA.
Several local exercise groups meet here most mornings for coffee and fun after a great workout! We support local Yoga, Piyo, Boot Camps and more from members of Fitness 2 Go by Cheri Childress, Beauregard Memorial Hospital, Beau Care, and Lady Flex Fitness.
Some of our most supportive customers come from other small businesses. We get so much support from DeAnna Fuller at Southern Belles Boutique and Tanning, Doug and Bridgett Moses of Doug’s A/C and Heat, Chef Shauna from Dat Truck, and all of our maintenance needs are of course met by Arick from Stovall millwork. Last, but not least, by far, is the support that we receive as downtown merchants from the Mayor’s office. The Mayor has proven time after time that rebuilding our downtown community is a priority to his office. He, Misty Clanton, and his staff are always on hand to support all of the local businesses. We could not have picked a better place to call home.
We LOVE our locals! -Terri
